Tiling Forum for Wall Tiling and Floor Tiling. Professional Tilers Forum.

I've been monitoring the tiling training centre's in the UK for some years now and I've come across many that are brilliant and a hanfull that I'd never recommend.

The ones I'd recommend are:-
North East Tiling Training - www.learntotile.co.uk - Short courses. Brilliant teachers. Very fast paced. Packed with ALL the bits you need to know. Perfect for the trader looking to add tiling to his trades, or homeowner who's doing a bit at home, and anybody new to the trade as the course starts with the basics.

Chase Tiling Academy - www.chasetiling.co.uk - A brilliant setup. Great bunch of trainers (Ant & Phil & co), accredited centre so they can arrange and deal with your NVQ's (you have to be trained by 2010!). They're quite established now and have trained many tilers up, there are loads to speak to on the forum so feel free to pop-over there (tilersforums.co.uk) and see what it's all about.

UK Tiling Courses - www.uktilingcourses.co.uk - Run by Pete who's a great guy and an even better tiler / teacher. Trained many tilers and many are on his own forum (www.uktilers.co.uk) though some are on the UK's Biggest Tile Forum too (www.tilersforums.co.uk). Selling tools and training in all the area's such as Stone, Mosaics and so on, Pete's courses are second to non.

Diamond Training Centre - www.diamondtrainingcentre.co.uk - Vinnie and Kenny run the courses here. Diamond's a big training centre that's training many tilers to a very high standard. Diamond do 'taster' courses where you can pop to the centre and see what it's all about. Diamond are big supporters of the forum and have helped the forum no end. Kenny is often planning the next day's training up till late to ensure everything runs smoothly in the day. Kenny's no stranger to 4am starts (and that's just when I see him rise) and although their feedback thread is small on tilersforums.co.uk it is only because they're the second newest training sponsor I assure you. Since Diamond have had their feedback thread on the forum we've had LOADS of trained tilers leave happy remarks about the course.

Tiler Training School - www.tilertrainingschool.co.uk - TTS are the newest sponsors of tilersforums.co.uk therefore their feedback thread isn't big yet. Though I've started to checkout the training centre sponsors personally and would obviously only accept the very best centre's. Tiler Training School (Scotland) have al;ready had feedback left about them that's very appealing to tiler-wanna-be's. TTS I'm sure will live upto all expectations of being a well organised set-to-be-around-for-ages training centre and I'm sure you'd be a pleased course delegate if you signed up with them.

Thanks mate. Appreciated.
Chase Tiling Academy
Did a 6 week tiling course at Chase Tiling Academy gained all the necessary skills required from scratch as a total novice to do the job.
The course was well balanced, content of high quality and overall excellent
‘Value for money’.
The trainers were highly professional fiercely supportive of their students,
well versed and experienced in terms of the tiling trade, a full 360 degree view.
Always got an answer to any questions in a friendly, helpful and often highly humours way.
Most impressive set up a credit to the training world I will be returning to Chase in July to do the two week plumbing course.
I would recommend this organisation 10 on 10 to anyone, based on my experience there.
One of the reasons you may not have feedback is due to the fact its a restricted area in tilersforums, this seems silly as it would help a lot of people if more could leave feedback without having to post what seems like an arbitrary amount of comments on the site before getting approval.

I recently attended Essex Tiling Training, did a 5 week course 2 walls/2 floors/1 week on different tile types. Have to say that I did enjoy the course, being new to the 'tools' environment, it was an extremely friendly atmosphere and I never felt out of my depth or out of place.
There is no real theory to be done just straight into a bay and start tiling within about the first hour of your first day! Thats the best way to do it. The bays are set out like small ensuites and you cant cheat by pulling out the toilets etc they are screwed down so you have to learn your cuts! the windows/sinks etc are all on the skew so its as difficult as it can be. Floors are laid in adhesive not dry but you do get to dry lay different patterns on the 5 week course.
Danny tends to leave you to get on with it and helps you understand what went wrong when there are mistakes. However I would suggest he will need more help to avoid the distractions of running the business vs the tuition side as Essex Tiling Training becomes more successful, and it should.
One negative on the course is the Business Setup, whilst I am lucky in my understanding of setting up business/tax/websites/marketing etc this part of the course is limited (yes its a tiling course not a business enterprise course after all but I would suggest needs to be more thoroughly planned to provide a better background on business setup for the novice).
The 5 week course was perfect for me as I wanted to setup my own business, (now done), and I had the confidence to take on my first 'real' tiling jobs almost from the day I stopped the course, and when I get stuck Danny is always available to take calls (but hopefully not interfere with the training!)...
Great course, well worth it for someone who wants to start up on their own.
John.
It is not a resticted area at all. Any feedback has to be checked first because it is a feedback forum only and some people post there and it is not feedback.
All posts in the feedback forum are moderated then allowed to be viewed...good or bad all feedback goes up once moderated.....it might take a few hrs before a moderator sees the post but it will be eventually....
Discussions on courses etc , can be held in the tiling courses forum but only feedback is left in the feedback forum......hope this clears that up for you.....
sorry but your wrong...I wanted to leave feedback on the tilersforum regarding courses but couldnt because that area is locked. (see the padlock next to the forum title) ... I asked to have entry but was told I had to post entries onto the main forum and also post my details in a private pm to the forum regulator...which was fine..then go back and say that I posted entries ... nothing to do with any feedback being checked as I could not leave feedback for it to be checked...note that I am not talking about this website but tilersforums
I did ask you to mail me the feedback and I'd post it on your behalf. I'll now copy it over for you.

There are a few accounts on the forum that are not picking up the right permissions at sign-up stage. The problem was fixed some time ago but it's effecting some account still. Not enough to warrant causing fuss, but enough that we're missing some feedback.

I have however done my best to get it still live on the forum for the world to see. And I'll keeping doing my best.
We could argue the toss all day as to who is the best training provider and at the end of the day you may make a decision based on what ? a website, a brochure, a chat on the phone ! So here is a challenge for you, before you invest any money in your future visit us, 19 out of every 20 people who visit us book onto a course. Visit anytime or come on our free taster days then visit our competitors and compare. When you book i will personally reimberse you with your travel expences for the visit even if you are flying from Ireland or Scotland just call before hand and quote the forum.
